Are you interested in helping decide where Broadway’s mission contributions are going? Do you have ideas about what organizations you’d like to see us contribute to? Do you have favorites you think we should be contributing to? Then please come to the SOWers meeting on Sunday, January 19 at 12:45pm when we will choose our Mission Minutes for the rest of the year. Food will be provided. And we’d love to have you join us to become a Sower. We need to sprout more Sowers! People with new ideas and a commitment to growing Broadway’s connection to our local and worldwide community. Hope to see you on the 19th. Facebook event here.

MARTIN LUTHER KING JR. CELEBRATION 2020

We gather for a time of prayer, worship, Q & A, and music, with special guest Rev. Dr. Angelique Walker-Smith, Senior Associate for Pan-African and Orthodox Church Engagement at Bread for the World, who will present “Slavery’s Enduring Legacy of Disempowerment: 1619-2019.” (Learn more about Rev. Walker-Smith here.) A light supper will be served after closing worship. No registration required. This free event is brought to you by the Northern Illinois Conference and the Commission on Religion & Race, and supports our conference goal to live out our conviction that racism is incompatible with Christian teaching.

BROADWAY UNITED METHODIST CHURCH

COMMUNITY & CONNECTION SUNDAY

On the first Sunday of every month, Communion and Community Sunday, Broadway celebrates God’s expansive welcome with a communion service, welcoming all to God’s table. We also use this opportunity to do some special celebrations of the Broadway community—celebrating birthdays for the upcoming month and giving a special welcome to visiting friends and family. We will continue to celebrate visitors every Sunday, but we especially encourage the Broadway congregation to use Communion and Community Sundays as a chance to issue a special invitation to friends and family to join us in celebrating that we are all beloved children of God.
