We believe that liberation and freedom come from knowing America's history and understanding our role in society that has been founded upon White supremacist principles.

We know that Racism is about power and privileges, and that it disadvantages and destroys People of Color. Because Racism advantages and gives privilege to White people whether one asks for it or not, it ultimately destroys the humanity of everyone it touches.

We recognize that the work of dismantling racism in ourselves and within the institutions we are a part of cannot be done as individuals. The work of dismantling racism must be done in community.

It is our desire and our passion to see Broadway United Methodist Church come more fully into the reality of its mission statement and Anti-Racist Declaration. Doing our own work as White people to understand the insidiousness of racism and privilege is our chosen path to support Broadway's vision of a fully inclusive and just community of faith.
