Dear Broadway Family,
It seems like I have not talked to you in a while and there is so much pent up that needs to be shared and discussed -- so much in our world that needs a response to. We woke up this morning to yet another mass shooting, this time in Indianapolis.
And, this on the heels of watching the video of 13 year old Adam Toledo shot by police even as he had his hands raised up in surrender, and, while the pain of yet another killing of an African American young man is fresh on our minds.
And the fact that 20-year-old Daunte Wright was shot not too far from where Derek Chavin’s (cop that killed George Floyd) trial is underway.
What is happening in our world? How has so much hatred been unleashed in our communities? Why is this acceptable? I don’t have answers to any of this, and, I know that we need to do something. We cannot sit in silence. So,
Beloveds, let us all do what we can to work towards stopping these acts of violence against other humans, and to have better policies for gun possession. Let us also do all we can to extend care and support for folks we encounter. We do not know what the other person is carrying in their hearts, but we can offer a smile to everyone we see.
Let us continue to create a brave space where everyone can claim identity as a beloved child of God. And remember, I am always your partner in this work of justice!
