Alka's Angle April 3, 2019

Dear Broadway Family,

April is here! April means showers and gardening and spring-cleaning. The thought of spring-cleaning scares me a little. I know how much I have accumulated over the years. I know I am hanging on to a lot of things, thinking that I might need them one day. But the truth is, there are some boxes we have never opened in the last four years.

Spring is a good time to revisit the idea. The season of Lent also reminds us that the things we own will not get us any closer to God. Savvy reminded us Sunday that our focus needs to be on God’s dream for us and the world, more than the “American dream.”

I don’t know about you, but I am feeling called to clear the clutter, so I can connect with the center of my being and with God. If you want to join me, here is a link that can help us to declutter, organize, and live freely and simply so others can simply live! We do not have to start big. We can start with one drawer, one closet or one room- whatever comes easier to you. The joy we feel when we accomplish that one space will motivate is to move to the next step.

Hopefully, this process will also help us with our spiritual decluttering! What do I need to let go of? What do I need to unlearn? Who do I need to forgive? Who do I need to seek forgiveness from? What am I holding on to, that is not life-giving to me? These questions and more can help us with our spiritual decluttering and re-centering.

People of God, may we be blessed in our experience. May we connect with God in a way we have not before. May we find our center this season. God bless you and remember, I am always your partner in justice!
