Dear Broadway Community,
Beloveds, a friend shared this version of “O Little Town of Bethlehem” with me recently- and I felt I needed to share it with you, in light of what we are experiencing in the city of Chicago and hearing from the people in Palestine.
May this version remind us all of the reality of the people and place where Jesus was born, and of the new residents that are now part of our city, who need our support.
For that, and while we fight for permanent housing solutions for our housing instable siblings, Cornerstone Community Outreach has a proposal to buy a building and convert it to a men's shelter, and ONE Northside supports the effort,
so if you live in the 46th Ward or in Uptown, please fill out this survey from Ald. Angela Clay's office to support Cornerstone's purchase of this building at 1140 W Wilson to convert it to a men's shelter. If you'd like to read more, here is a recent article from Block Club.
Beloveds, as we worship together and celebrate the birth of Jesus in this world, may we not forget the people suffering around us and beyond. May we remember the reason Jesus came to this world for, and stay inspired to do what Jesus began on this earth! I hope to see you at church on Sunday Dec 24th @ 11am for morning worship and then @ 7pm for our Christmas Eve Candlelight service.
May we keep the Hope of this season that Peace will one day prevail- as we continue to share the Love and Joy of this season. Let us continue to be agents of hope, and pray for peace as we also bring care and help where needed. Be blessed and be a blessing, beloveds, and I look forward to seeing you all in church.
