Alka's Angle July 19, 2024

Dear Broadway Community,

My heart is full this week- with many emotions and feelings- some joy-filled and some challenging but such is the nature of life! The challenges are that-

  • Our building constantly keeps showing us signs of needs, and
  • This week we learned that another air conditioning unit in the building gave in, among a few other smaller appliances (vacuum cleaner and lawn mower) that gave up functioning, so if you are able to make a special donation for the 2 smaller appliances that would be a welcome offer!

But my heart is also filled with joy because-

  • We received 3 persons into the membership of the church this past week, one was delayed due to scheduling conflict and one is in the process of a transfer,
  • We had another fruitful meeting with members of Holy Covenant and the exploration conversation for possible joint ministry continues,
  • We will soon be getting an upgrade for our sound system before the month is over, and
  • Victor and Freddie have volunteered to work the grill this Sunday!!!

So, we will worship in the yard at 11am, then we will have hotdogs for lunch!!

Please remember to bring a side dish to pass! We will also need help setting up and cleaning up before and after church!

At 2pm, we will go into the sanctuary for Satia’s Celebration of Life service! Her daughter Tiffani will join us, so I hope many of you will be able to make it!

And, a few other celebrations-

  • Bishop Dan Schwerin will continue to be our Bishop in the Northern Illinois Conference, and like many churches that share pastors, we will share Bishop Schwerin with the Wisconsin Annual Conference, starting September 1, 2024.
  • We have a new District Superintendent- Rev. Victor Melad who is in his first month of this new assignment!

I invite you to hold both of them in your prayers as they lead us into the church and the conference that God is calling us to be!

  • And I am grateful for donations we continue to receive for our Annual Backpack Giveaway! We are nowhere close to our goal so your support is welcome. Please use this link to make your donations.

Beloveds, I am always grateful to all of you for always showing up in the best way you can, so together we can continue to be the church that God has called us to be.

Be blessed, and be a blessing to all you meet, and I look forward to seeing you all at church.
