Dear Broadway Family,
Delta! Delta! Delta! The word Delta is on almost everyone’s mind right now -- at least for those who have to decide whether to open or wait a little longer!
So, yes -- I too am paying close attention to the impact of Delta in our country, and primarily in the city. According to the news, on Thursday, the highest number of COVID infections were reported since late May. According to Dr. Arwady, even though we remain under control, that could change quickly. And even though most of us are vaccinated by now, I am hearing stories of vaccinated people being infected by Delta and hospitalized.
I am still cautiously optimistic and proceeding with our plan for in-person worship on Sunday, August 1st, but I will keep a close eye on the expert advice and make the decision accordingly. However, we do need you to let us know if you are planning on attending in-person, and then join us for the picnic, so please fill out this form and help us make sure we have food and space for all those attending.
And whether we worship in person or continue to virtually -- I am still planning a sermon series on your questions/topics, so if you have not already told me, please fill out this form.
Beloved, let us please continue to do our part in keeping the COVID infection under control. Let us continue to wash hands as often as we can, and continue to wear the mask, even though it is not required everywhere anymore. Let us all take our responsibility seriously in keeping the infections in Chicago under the ‘high risk’ level. And, remember, I am always your partner in the work of justice! I look forward to seeing you in worship this Sunday!
