Dear Broadway Family,
Here we are in July with morning temperatures in the 60s, and regardless of what many may say -- climate change is real. So much is changing in our world, and the best thing we can do is to prepare ourselves for those changes or else the world will move forward and we will be left behind. Change is the only constant in our loves and if we are not prepared to accept that, life can become difficult for us.
In relation to the pandemic -- many have asked me if we are ready to open our church. My answer -- the building is open for some building users now, but I am not ready to open for worship yet! With the Delta variant starting to infect people in Illinois -- and the comments of health officials changing frequently -- I want to air on the side of safety and wait till we have a better sense of how this wave will affect people. So, hang in and be assured that we will share with you as soon as we make a decision. With the presence of this Delta mutation, I pray that folk who have not been vaccinated yet, will change their minds, and get vaccinated. Remember we will have a vaccination clinic on July 17th from 11am till 3pm, offering the Johnson and Johnson vaccine. Please share with your friends and neighbors as widely as you can.
Talking about change -- I have been thinking of changing my sermon focus, from lectionary to asking you: what do you want me to preach on?
Share with me your topic, question or comment here, and I will try to prepare a sermon series based on your suggestions for the summer.
With the city being mostly open -- the Lakeview Chamber of Commerce is bringing back the festivals. We have been asked if we can provide volunteers for the Belmont Sheffield Music Fest next weekend, July 16-18. Friends, I ask for your help because the church gets a donation for this. If you can spare a few (3 or 6) hours of your day -- it would be excellent. Please let me know if you are able to help. There is a little incentive for you too…
Beloved -- Let us continue to stay safe, keep our families and friends safe by following safety measures, while being intentional in our efforts to welcome one another to fellowship with Christ, and remember, I am always your partner in this work of justice! I look forward to seeing you in worship this Sunday!
