Dear Broadway Family,
Today (Friday) the city of Chicago has entered PHASE 5 of the Restore Illinois plan. With that -- (read the guidance here) businesses are no longer required to mandate masks, or ensure social distancing between parties, however, all businesses reserve the right to enforce their own policies regarding unvaccinated patrons. Please post these policies on your door. Folks are still required to wear masks inside hospitals, CTA, schools and other places as they may require.
Friends, even though the city is open as of today, Broadway church continues to be cautious and worship on-line. Our building is now accessible to some groups but most of the church activities are still suspended. We will watch closely and make our plans accordingly. We do not want to open too soon and we want to be sure that our community will feel safe in returning to the building.
In an effort to make sure that everyone in our community is safe, we are hosting a vaccination clinic on Saturday, June 26th from 11am-1pm.
I ask you to please share the information with anyone in your circle who may not be vaccinated yet. All persons 12 years and older are eligible for vaccination.
Friends -- with the city open and almost all restrictions lifted -- I ask you to please use your own judgement when you are among people and do all you can to protect those around you. We know it is not over yet! There are different mutations in other parts of the world and most of the world is still waiting to have access to the vaccine. Let us be cautious and not rush into anything that could pose a potential challenge for anyone. Let us continue to strive to do what is just and most Christ-like. Let us dare to stand against all acts of violence, extend care and support for folks who might be targeted, do all we can to make this world a better place for everyone, and remember, I am always your partner in this work of justice! I look forward to seeing you in worship this Sunday!
