And like every other year, we will participate in the Parade this year also but in a slightly different way. Because of the limitation of numbers by the organizers of the parade, this year no one from Broadway will be in the parade (because no one, with the ability to walk and carry the banner, volunteered), but our banner will be present because four other United Methodists will be participating under our banner.
Instead, we, along with many other United Methodists, will offer a hospitality tent, outside the parade, on Buckingham and Halsted. We need volunteers for the tent- so please sign up here even to give an hour of your time. We also need donations of cases of 8 oz. water bottles, chips and some carbonated drinks.
Before the parade, we will host a worship service on PRIDE SUNDAY, June 30th at 9:30am, in collaboration with the Chicago Coalition of Welcoming Churches and many other United Methodist Churches from the area. We invite you to join us for worship.
There is still opportunity for you to share your thoughts and ideas here with us about the possibilities of ministry with Holy Covenant UMC.
As we enter the summer season, we are also looking ahead to Fall planning and our Annual Backpack Give Away! We are ahead in planning this year because of a generous donation of backpacks already. Now we have to fill them with school supplies. Julia and Woo have taken responsibility for the task and created a wish list at Walmart. Please review the list and buy the donations so we can continue to share resources with our young people and local schools.
Beloveds, I continue to be grateful for all of you for always showing up in the best way you can, so together we can continue to be the church that God has called us to be.
