For those who were at church on Monday, November 11th for our Annual Church Conference, I am grateful to you. For those who were not able to make it, the reports are here on the website. You could also ask Alexia and she can email you a copy.
When we scheduled it we were not sure how it would feel to have the church conference with another church in the room. How will we talk about our business? We felt vulnerable! But, we learned was that the other church was equally feeling uncertain. In some ways it was good to see that our struggles are not ours alone and we both were able to celebrate our little joys and learn from our challenges.
Regardless of our challenges -- one of many things I celebrate at Broadway is our passion for justice and our compassion for all who are limited in resources. I wanted to share with you a few ways in which we can continue to care for our siblings.
Night Ministry is collecting donations of packages of new black and white socks, $5-10 gift cards to various fast foods and single-ride Ventra passes. They are also collecting Christmas stockings, and hats, gloves, scarves and long underwear for the guests at the Crib. All of these lists will be posted on the bulletin board. I invite us to give generously as we enter into the biggest season of thanksgiving and giving.
Friends, let us work towards, becoming a church where all feel welcomed, accepted and loved. And remember, I am always your partner in justice!
