Alka's Angle November 3, 2023

Dear Broadway Community,

This Sunday will be the 1st Sunday of November and if you are a life-long church goer then you know this means we are getting into a very busy time in the life of the church. So, I am going to give us an overview of what the next few weeks are going to look like here at Broadway.

  • This Sunday, November 5th, we will celebrate and remember our ancestors and those who have paved the way for us to be where we as humanity are.  This Sunday is also the end of daylight saving time, so make sure to set you clocks back (if you still have clocks that need to be reset) accordingly.
  • The following two Sundays we will  continue with our sermon series on the ‘Seven Deadly Sins’ according to confessional practices, concluding the series with SLOTH and WRATH.
  • November 26th, the last Sunday of November, is Thanksgiving Sunday. We will also observe that Sunday as our “PLEDGE Sunday,” inviting us to prayerfully consider how God is calling us to respond to the blessings that we have experienced in our daily lives.
  • And just like that we come to December and enter the Advent season. We will be using a worship series titled, “THE GIFT OF BEING PRESENT’ for the season and will tell you more about that as we get closer. However, I do have one question for you. I don’t know if you have noticed already or not, but this year Christmas Eve is on a Sunday- which means technically we can have 2 services on Sunday- celebrate the fourth Sunday of Advent in the morning during regular worship, and come back in the evening at 7:00pm for the Christmas Eve service. So my question to you is-  would you prefer two services on Sunday, December 24th, or one COMBINED service. Please share your response here.

That’s it for now friends! I truly feel blessed to be a part of this community that is always willing to step up and offer support and aide wherever it is needed. Let us continue to be agents of hope, and pray for peace as we also bring care and help where needed.

Be blessed and be a blessing, beloveds, and I look forward to seeing you all in church.
