Dear Broadway family,

Last week we heard the thoughts of a member, and a friend of Broadway about what Broadway means to them. As I said earlier -- we will hear from several people throughout this month while we are in the "Stewardship season” at Broadway. Today let us hear from Brian Marron:

What Broadway Means to Me….

I have been a member of Broadway for over 20 years now. When I first attended service at Broadway, I was shocked by the radical spirit of inclusivity that the pastor preached, and that everyone was welcome. This was certainly not my experience in other churches. I knew then that this was a place where I could bring my children, and know with confidence, that they would be taught the true Christian values, uncolored by prejudice and bias. I have never regretted my decision, as my children, now grown up, celebrate diversity and fight for racial justice.

Broadway continues to be a place where I am introduced to diverse ideas, cultures and people all of which challenge my perceptions. I love the fact that Broadway is a safe place to share ideas, where people listen to each other and consider other’s perspectives. It also remains a place of community, where church members can rely on others during times of need. It truly is a family which looks out for each other. This spirit of outreach has been shown time and time again during the COVID crisis.

I am proud to be a member of this community. From the days when we used to travel together to protest at the Annual Conference to the current crisis, Broadway has always risen to face challenges head-on with courage, conviction and have done so standing behind our belief that all are welcome. ~ Brian Marron

Friends, Stewardship Sunday is November 8th. November 1st -- the first Sunday in November is All Saints Sunday! We will light candles in memory of our loved ones who have gone from among us in this past year. If you lost loved ones this past year and desire for them to be named during worship, please email me their name/s and, if possible, a photo, and we will light a candle for them, in the Sanctuary, on November 1st.  Please email them to me at pastoralkalyall@gmail.com

Beloveds, I pray that you are doing well, taking good care of yourself -- washing your hands, wearing a mask, maintaining safe distance, when seeing family and friends, and doing all you can to keep our infection numbers going down. May God give all of us the strength we need for each day. And remember, I am always your partner,  in justice and in ministry,
