Alka's Angle September 27, 2024

Dear Broadway Community,

Last week, at church we had talked about how might we fulfill our responsibilities towards those siblings who are unhoused or be of lesser privilege than us. If you have ideas/suggestions please feel free to email them to me.

As September comes to an end, we are looking at October and the Fall activities that come along with it. I want to take time to share with you all the things that we have on schedule and those that we hope to schedule-

  • Starting October our Sunday School and Bible Study resume- Bible Study starts Wednesday, October 2nd and Sunday School for children resumes on Sunday, October 6th.
  • We don’t have a date finalized yet, but we hope to have a pet blessing on the calendar in October.
  • October also brings for us the Chicago Marathon on Sunday, October 13th! This year we have registered to be an official ‘Cheer Site.” We will share more information with you as we get closer to the day but please get the date on your calendar and if you are available and around, come over to cheer the runners!
  • October will end with Halloween- Lakeview East Chamber of Commerce which celebrates Halloween for the kids with a neighborhood wide “Little Monsters Crawl” on Saturday, October 26th from 11 am till 3 pm. We will register for this only if enough volunteers will be willing to participate and take turns to be at the church to give out candy, so do let me know.
  • I will also be taking some vacation time in the fall, for which I am grateful and will be visiting my family in India during that time. I will trust your support for those who will fill the pulpit during my absence.

And finally, I want to remind you that you can help us with the little projects or regular everyday jobs that you can help us with- here is a list of projects and I am grateful to those who have been working at it slowly. We will keep updating the list as needed.

Beloveds, you are deeply appreciated for all the ways you continue to show up and support the ministries of Broadway United Methodist Church. Let us keep the energy, support one another and help any way we can. Let us commit to reusing all we can, recycle as much as we can and share with neighbors what we feel we don’t need anymore- and so, do all we can to leave a better world for our children and the future generations. And, I hope to see you in church soon,
