Pip's Perspective February 3, 2023

Hello Broadway family,

This last week in worship, I talked a bit about faith formation of kids in our congregation. I talked about how the time for young Christians during worship and Sunday school after worship are about introducing ideas, not about perfecting our understandings of things.

What I am looking for in these times are opportunities to play with and explore concepts in fun ways that can percolate into the future.

I’m very excited with some of the development that I have been privileged enough to witness. These pictures are pictures drawn during Sunday school classes here. In the green drawing, a T-Rex is being baptized. In the next drawing a kitten is being baptized. In the last drawing a person is following Jesus down a path.

It is very exciting to me to see these drawings from four-year-olds in our congregation. These show that these kids are dipping their toes into the learnings that I hope will be lifelong and will deepen into adulthood.

This week I invite you to remember that it is not necessary to master any learnings about God in your lifetime. It is enough to explore, to play and to discover.

Be blessed,

-Pip
