Hello everyone!
This week, I'd like to tell you a little bit about what I'm going to be doing at Broadway United Methodist as an intern. My internship will be lasting two school years, so this year which has just started, and the year after. Both years, I'll be helping to lead worship (including preaching once a month), helping with pastoral care, teaching the twins in religious education class, and more. My second year features a leadership initiative.
Rev. Alka and I have talked, and my leadership initiative year two will involve rebuilding a social justice team. I'll be building up to this work this first year by researching social justice initiatives at other congregations, building interfaith alliances, and talking about social justice in my weekly Pip's Perspective column. Year two, we will take our social justice work to the next level. Now, I know that many of you are involved in justice endeavors at a personal level, but we'll be building our church's presence in the justice sphere of Chicago and connecting with other organizations and churches to deepen this work.
I'd love to hear from you! Whether you've been involved with social justice or not, what are your social justice interests? What would you like to see happen regarding justice work at Broadway United Methodist? Feel free to email me at pipaylaparis@gmail.com or give me a call at 312-622-5656. Thanks!
