Pip's Perspective December 3, 2021

Hello everyone!

As I've mentioned a time or two, my learning project at Broadway will be focused around social justice. I've decided I'd like to begin this by making sack suppers one day for the Night Ministry, an organization in town that "compassionately provides housing, health care, outreach, spiritual care, and social services to adults and youth who struggle with homelessness, poverty, and loneliness."

Would you be interested in helping to plan this sandwich-making event? Please email me at pipaylaparis@gmail.com! Also, I'll be looking for people to join the social justice team in the future, please let me know if you'd be interested in this as well.

In other news, we, your ministerial team (Alka, Lee and myself) are concerned about the new Covid variant, Omicron, as well as any other virus mutations that may be spreading that we don't even know about yet. Because of this, we are going to tighten restrictions at the church. Only Robert and one or two choir members will sing the hymns, the choir and Robert will be asked to wear face shields, we will ask that no food or beverages be consumed in the church, and that after church is over congregants exit the church instead of fellowshipping inside. It is uncomfortable to create these restrictions, however, we want everybody to be safe and this seems the best way to go about it. We appreciate your cooperation!

Lastly, as always, I would love to meet with you! One option is brunch, lunch, coffee, dinner. Also, I am at the church on Wednesdays and Fridays and have open "Office Hours" in which I'd like to encourage you to stop by. Please drop me a note ahead of time, so I know you are coming. I've had a lot of pleasure in my meetings so far, and I look forward to many more!
