Alka's Angle April 10, 2026

Dear Broadway Community,

Happy Easter-tide beloved people of God! Christ is RISEN! Jesus has done what Jesus came to do- to teach us to love and to care for one another, to empower us to speak against injustice and to support the vulnerable. Now it is OUR turn! As those who follow Jesus- now we have to CONTINUE what Jesus started- to care, to love, to speak and to support!

Our next sermon series opens us in that direction. Sometimes we want to do something, but we hesitate- but some of the best relationships are a witness to breaking that barrier. So this series focuses on four guiding questions- questions that we’ve been meaning to ask, that keep us curious, and often lead us deeper into courage and connection:

  • Where are you from? On April 12th we will start with creation and be reminded that we ALL are formed from dust.
  • What do you need? April 26th focuses on relationships that we build with other people and creation.
  • Where does it hurt? On May 3rd we are reminded that we all deal with our share of pain and suffering.  And finally,
  • Where do we go from here? May 10th is also Mother’s Day which reminds us the power of love relationships- bonds that we create with those who become our chosen family- which in essence is all of God’s people!

And if you are questioning my count of the weeks- you are right! We missed April 19th in that series- we will observe that Sunday as EARTH SUNDAY! On that day we will also lift up “Kids Above All.” This month they invite support for their “Healthy Babies Drive” which is focused on providing essential health and safety items, like diapers, wipes, baby gates, protective stove knobs, and baby bottles, for the families who participate in their programs. They also have a wish list on Amazon. Please feel free to shop from that list and bring your donations to church.

In the spirit of extending mutual care and support to our community, I also remind us of our “SHOWERS OF LOVE.” (more information on our resource page) The service is open on Thursday afternoons! Please share the information with anyone that might have a need for it!

Beloveds let us remain intentional in sharing the LOVE of Jesus with all we can, support all the people we can, remind each other that we are beloveds of the one who created us all, and let us keep moving forward with courage, compassion, and conviction, always finding good in all we see and experience.

God bless you all and I will see you at church!
