Dear Broadway Community,
You may know by now that April 5 is being treated as a critical all-in moment for those who support workers and are concerned of the actions that threaten voting rights and civil liberties, gut human services, raise prices, slash Medicaid, Social Security.
All around the country, folk are rising up on April 5 to say ‘Hands Off’ of Medicaid and Social Security, Public Lands and Unions, Immigrants, Trans and LGBTQ+ Rights, Our Courts and Our Bodies, Clean Energy and Voting Rights!
We are invited to join the Chicago Federation of Labor, Illinois Coalition for Immigrant and Refugee Rights, Equality Illinois and many other organizations to join our voices with others and Rise Up to Fight Back against injustice, and for what we believe in.
This will be a nonviolent action, bringing all of us together to stand in solidarity with one another and support our work, and I hope many of you will be able to join. I hope everyone who cares about our city, our nation, and our planet will be able to join to say HANDS OFF!
The Chicago action will be at the Daley Plaza (50 W. Washington) starting around noon with hopes to end around 1pm. Click here if you want to know why and here if you want to know more details about the action.
Beloveds, as I always say, amidst all of the movements, actions and even disappointments around us, let us not forget to care for ourselves and to stay grounded, so nothing gets to us in a way that paralyses us from caring: for ourselves and for those around us. May we all remain intentional in checking on one another, and frequently reminding each other that we are beloveds of the one who created us. May we do our best to move forward with courage, compassion, and conviction.
God bless you all and I will see you at church!
