Pip's Perspective January 14, 2022

Hello Everyone!

MLK Day is coming up on January 17th! It's so important to do something to honor the legacy of Martin Luther King Jr. in the ways that we can.

Broadway United Methodist will be hosting an event on zoom at 6:30pm, Monday January 17th. This evening will feature readings as well as personal reflections by members of our congregation. Please join us!

I'd also love to hear your favorite Martin Luther King quotes! Please email them to me. A few of mine are:

"When machines and computers, profit motives and property rights are considered more important than people, the giant triplets of racism, materialism, and militarism are incapable of being conquered."

"The ultimate test of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and moments of convenience, but where he stands in moments of challenge and moments of controversy."

“A riot is the language of the unheard. And what is it America has failed to hear?...It has failed to hear that the promises of freedom and justice have not been met. And it has failed to hear that large segments of white society are more concerned about tranquility and the status quo than about justice and humanity."

That's it from me for now! I hope to see you Monday at our special MLK event!
